3 Rare Essentials Oils and their properties. See what makes them as luxurious as can be.
Flowers are expensive, that's a fact. But what are these 3 rare essential oils and why are they?
Stay with us, we bring you here a beginning of answer to understand what makes them so rare.
The Rose - Damask Rose
We cannot talk about luxury essential oils without mentioning our favorite: the Bulgarian Rose.
Its particularity? It grows on sandy soil, with a temperate climate (cool in summer and warm in winter) in the region of Kazanlak.
Its properties are not only odorous; the Bulgarian Damask Rose is an excellent remedy:
• Anti-aging
• Against Acne
• Moisturising
• Healing minor burns
Requiring no less than 200 million petals (equivalent to 4 tons) to produce 1kg of essential oil, the Rose is a product considered rare.
Its price varies between 5,000 and 7,000 € per kilo. The harvest is laborious because the rose flowers are picked by hand, one by one, transported in a bag without being crushed, between 5:00 a.m. and 9:00 am, at the times when the fragrance concentration is highest.
The extraction of the perfume is less expensive because the technique used is faster and requires fewer flowers.
We recommend Pure Bulgarian Rose Oil 5ml for a first test.
A true concentrate of happiness, this essential oil is perfect if you want to make your own blends, remedies or other home made beauty products. This oil will bewitch you and you will be asking for more very quickly!
Champaca - Magnolia Champaca
Champaca essential oil has been known and recognized for hundreds of years for these multiple benefits:
• Soothe headaches
• Relieve states of depression, fatigue
• Aphrodisiac
• Anti-inflammatory
Magnolia Champaca grows mainly in China and India. These broadleaf conifers provide generous harvests of large flowers which are used in temples in Asia.
With its slightly honeyed and very floral fragrance, it is the heart note of famous J'adore perfume by Dior.
Its price is around 40,000 € per kilo, making it one of the most expensive essential oils in the world! One drop is enough to diffuse its powerful fragrance. It is used in fine perfumery in luxury brands mainly.
Cheap oils and fragrances are often made from synthetic molecules and do not offer the same properties as the absolute oil.
Note that about 10 years ago, the CO2 extraction method critical was developed by the CNRS (French National Center for Scientific Research). This technique considerably improves the performance of the extraction of essences from the plant, while drastically reducing the energy consumption required for extraction.
This gives much cheaper extracts of the same quality, even higher than that of oils extracted by steam. The device is expensive though, which explains why it is mainly found to extract expensive essences such as: Rose, Champaca or Néroli.

So here are the Top 5 Essential Oils you can turn to this season to help you heal.
Tea Tree
This essential oil is one of our favorite. It is widely known for its many therapeutic benefits.
Tea Tree oil is great for fighting viral and bacterial infections. Originating in Australia, the Malaleuca tree's bark look like sheets of paper. These sheets are distilled to make the essential oil.
The name Tea Tree comes from Captain Cook whose sailors used the tea tree leaves to infuse in their teas.
The tea Tree essential oil is safe to use on children (3 years old and above), to treat infections such as lice, scabies and ringworms.
For adults, it can for example be used to treat acne, boils as well as vaginal infections added with your intimate shower gel.
Last but not least in this Covid-19 era, it is particularly effective to sanitise the air and get rid of insects. A real winner!
The sweet orange essential oil is indeed sweet. its scent is light and soft, while its therapeutic benefits are impressively strong.
Do not confuse it with the bitter orange essential oil which is way more toxic and photosensitive.
The sweet orange helps reduce anxiety and stress levels for kids and adults. It is also recommended to use when experiencing digestive disorders, heartburns and constipation.
Ceylon Cinnamon is undoubtedly the strongest of essential oils listed here. Its scent is powerful, so are its benefits.
Previously widely used to show one's economical and social rank, the Ceylon cinnamon is known for its ability to fight both bacterias and viruses! I'm telling you, it's a big girl we got over here!
You can use it to treat influenza and fatigue but also for abdominal discomfort.
The thym linalol is widely used in the kitchen in the South of France. The aromatic herb gives this beautiful smell and taste to the food.
However, it also has some hidden properties. The Thyme linalol contains a molecule, the linalol which is known for being beneficial for:
- gastritis
- bronchitis, coughs
- warts, psoriasis
- acne
We always want to keep the best for last!
The lavender essential oil is by far our favorite. Why? because it can be used on everyone (babies, kids, adults and seniors) with caution.
The true lavender or officinal lavender or fine lavender - too many names for one same essential oil - is different from the other types of lavender as these are neurotoxic and irritating to the skin.
The fine lavender is know for its analgesic, healing, calming and soothing properties. It helps with migraines, wounds, itches and restlessness.
All in all, this essential oil is a must have in any first aid kit out there!
